HBE’s Design-Build Solution Provides Value to Accomplish Once Unaffordable Master Plan
HBE has completed more than ten hospital projects for Adventist Health
System based in Roseville, California. As a member of Adventist Health,
San Joaquin Community Hospital is the premier provider of health care
services for 650,000 people in Bakersfield and the surrounding cities
of Kern County, California.
With project funds severely limited, the hospital selected HBE to
complete a 5-story addition, renovation and extensive seismic upgrade.
The new 130,000 square foot addition includes a 22-position Emergency
Department, a 44-bed medical/surgical unit, eight new operating rooms,
an 11-position recovery room and a ten-room ICU. The addition includes
a new birth center with nine labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms,
one C-section room, both full-term and Level II nurseries and a 14-bed
postpartum unit. The renovation includes a three-room endoscopy unit, outpatient
admitting/registration and prep/hold, cardiac cath, waiting, a medical
surgical unit, a medical library, a wonderful gift job and chapel.
San Joaquin Community Hospital is another example of the value that HBE
