North Hawaii Comm. Hospital |
 |
North Hawaii Community Hospital (NHCH) is a full-service acute care hospital centrally located in Waimea (Kamuela) on the Big Island of Hawaii. The vision of NHCH is to treat the whole individual – mind, body and spirit – through a team approach to patient-centered care.
HBE designed and built the one-story, 50-bed facility, featuring 41 medical/surgical beds divided into five “care teams” of eight to nine beds, each facilitating patient-focused care management.
The physical environment includes amply sized private patient rooms, natural lighting and garden views via operable lanai doors in every room, skylights and windows in common areas, landscaped gardens and courtyards with water features, and an interior design incorporating warm colors, textures and art to reflect a home-like ambiance.
Designed as a “healing instrument" over a decade ago, NHCH has become a prototype for the careful integration of select complementary healing practices with high quality medical care. |
